An Introduction to the Eclipse Phase Tabletop RPG

This is an Eclipse Phase fan site designed to help anyone who has heard about EP learn more about the game and hopefully give it a try. This site is not affiliated with Posthuman Studios, the creators of the game.

My name is Erik Schmidt. I've been playing EP since late 2011, but I've been playing tabletop RPGs since the early 1980s. I've played dozens of games, but few have captured my imagination like Eclipse Phase..

Eclipse Phase is the acclaimed tabletop roleplaying game of post-apocalyptic transhuman conspiracy and horror. EP takes the futurist and transhumanist concepts of writers like Iain Banks, David Brin, Kim Stanley Robinson, Charlie Stross, Vernor Vinge and others, pulling them all together in an amazingly rich, detailed setting. Earth is under quarantine, the entire solar system has been colonized, the definition of "person" has changed radically, and the possibilities for adventurous GMs and players are almost endless.

While the EP game mechanics are built around a straightforward d100 percentile framework, the setting is rather complex. This is probably not the best game for those who are new to pen & paper RPGs, but if you're a gamer looking for an immersive scifi environment, you owe it to yourself to try Eclipse Phase.

The best way to do that is to jump in with the free Quick-Start Rules, which include starter characters, an introductory scenario, and enough background info to get you rolling in the EP universe. If you like the game, there's plenty on this site to keep you occupied, and even more in the Resources section of the official Eclipse Phase site. Enjoy!
